Another blood loss through my nose…
No one gave me some serious blows
In fact I didn’t have any foes
But then I saw none until it flows
Another blood loss through my nose…
Yes, another bleeding nose experience had happened to me last Sunday morning ( Apr 18, 3AM) while I was taking pleasure in my not-so-deep-slumber. As the blood swiftly reached its way to exit from my external nasal opening, I was unwearily put to lethargic consciousness and my reflex had made me rub the fluid with my hand towel beside my pillow. Even in night vision, I knew that the towel had been stained with blood. Bloody hell! So drowsy I was; and so “common” the sight was that I immediately put my self in sleeping mode while maintaining my neck hyperextended at the edge of my head pillow.
“Another” because I actually had frequently noted nosebleeding for almost a year now. The first date on this series was actually unrecalled but more or less, it started sometime in August or September last year (2009). It first occured while I was playing a computer game. I thought it was a mucus but to my surprise, it could not be stopped by sniffing! Not knowing what had drifted, I rubbed it with my towel and a bigger surprise was unfolded… BLOOD! It struck me with fear. But fear had been worse each time it recurred. Frequency was about 1 to 2 time per month.
I had never consulted this to a physician. Not even to our school physician during our last physical examination (April 16, 2010). However, eversince my first experience, I had been considering probable causes enumerated in www.wrongdiagnosis.com. These were as follows together with my comments on the side:
- Nose conditions
- Nose injury - I had none.
- Blow to the nose - I blew through my nose, but not so intense! Just the “breathing” level.
- Broken nose - No.
- Nose picking - It didn’t seem that I was doing this vigorously! Besides, my finger nails were always kept trimmed.
- Nasal infection - No.
- Nasal congestion - No.
- Common cold - I was not sure if I had a common cold during my first experience. But on the succeeding, I sure I was commond-cold-free.
- Allergies- No
- Nasal polyp - No
- Nasal foreign body - No
- Chronic sinusitis - No
- Nasal tumors - Not sure. But I could not palpalte anything nor feel any pain.
- Sinus tumors - Not sure. But I could not palpalte anything nor feel any pain.
- Nasal cancer - Not sure.
- Dry nasal passages
- Bleeding disorders
- Clotting disorders - I always believed I had none. My wound bleeds so far clotted at an acceptable rate.
- Hemophilia - No
- Christmas disease - No
- Von Willebrand’s disease - No
- Leukemia - No?
- Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia - No?
- Hypertension - Last physical examination (Apr 16) revealed pre-hypertension = BP of 130/80mmHg
- Rapid weight loss - I lost 26 pounds in 4 weeks during our summer break of 2009!
- Excessive dieting - Yes? Well, my weight loss progress during school days were not that rapid. And “pig out” days were common during stressful events in my academic life. Nevertheless, I was dieting at the moment.
- Head injury - Not sure. But I had also been noting of my frequent headaches seated deeply from the left back part of my head.
- Certain medications - No medications.
- Rheumatic fever - Uhmm. I had also been noting of my frequent 1 second to 3 second chest pain displaced laterally on left side. I always suspected a heart problem.
- Vascular malformation - no?
Hmm… I could really not fathom the cause of these events. If I were to ask you, what’s your lucky guess?!
